Christmas Blog

Matthew 2:11

“On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.”

Merry Christmas my dear friends,

I have just fallen in love with Josh Groban’s “Little Drummer Boy”. It’s my new favorite Christmas carol.

I am pondering today with that little drummer boy.

He was so aware of his smallness, so awed by the King that he knelt in front of, wanting to move towards Him, but he held back, wondering…

“What gift have I to bring,”

Hmmm, well, I do have this drum… I know,

“I’ll play my drum for Him… I’ll play my best for Him…so, to honor Him.”

This is all I have, this little act of love or forgiveness, or act of service… but I will offer it to Him…

“So to honor Him,”

Yes, Lord, to honor You.

Not to gain Your love or approval, or anyone else’s for that matter,

But to honor You.

“Then He smiled at me….me and my drum.”

My life is my drum song.

I have often dropped the sticks, I have sometimes played off rhythm, but I have played for Him.

Just my little drum song…. offered to honor Him….and He smiles at me.

Isn’t He wonderful?

Merry Christmas
