Follow My Love

My Reb and I have spent the last several nights encouraged, amazed and inspired as we have watched the DVDs produced by a man named Darren Wilson. This young man traveled all over the world, and I mean ALL over the world in search of the move of God in lives of people today. To be honest, we didn’t “understand” everything we saw, but the overriding message in all that we saw was not doctrine or a set of principles, or signs and wonders…it was simply and profoundly the love of God.

It was the love of God that motivated and led these people — so many people — to believe and anticipate that God would perform miracles. But as we heard and saw throughout the films, the greatest miracle was the love of God poured out upon people that were not even looking for Him.

This morning I wondered at what we watched last night — men and women entering demon-possessed villages of Africa, going into witchcraft festivals here in the States, and walking onto streets of Thailand where sex trafficking was the norm. Who are these believers; what kind of people have that kind of faith to march confidently into the face of Satan and say, “no more”?

Then the Lord spoke to me. I want to share with you what He said.

I got up from my quiet time with Him to write this to you, because it has altered something in me and I am praying that it will in you.

He said to me:

“These people are following My love.”

“Following My love.”

That was it, profound and life changing for this busy little beaver, who has, for as long as I can remember, wanted to do the right thing for God. I always thought — just tell me what to do. If it seems too hard, I will take a deep breath (a couple of hours later, maybe), but I will do it. I will do it.

(Though, honestly, in the dark seasons of weariness in my life, there have been the ”I just can’t do it”.)

I have dedicated myself over the years to do the “right thing.” I have endeavored to have the right response when I have been wounded. I have stood in front of abortion clinics and pled for the lives of babies. I have gotten out of bed for decades to make breakfasts and raise a family one more day when I wanted to turn back over in my bed. I have read, I have cleaned, I have gone to help, I have tried to say the right thing when the wrong thing has been in my heart.

“I have,” “I have,” “I have…”

I have been sometimes satisfied, but more often than not — just tired. Why?

Jesus whispered to my heart, “These people are following My love.”

I saw a river, powerful and strong, flowing, overwhelming, moving through the streets and villages.

Love flows, and those who still their hearts, who thrill their hearts, to know Him, to abide in Him, will simply abide in the current. We will be helpless to do anything else. We will love.

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing. (John 15:4,5)

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”  John 15:9,10

So, whether it is to the streets of Thailand or to your living room. In your relationships at church or neighborhood, in your parenting, in your marriage, in your kitchen, in your bedroom….

Jesus’ love is flowing. Jesus is flowing, moving, loving. That is ALL that He does, that is all that He IS.

Hear this. Hear Him.

Still yourself. He is not interested in what you can do. He does not depend upon it or need it.

It gets in the way of Him, and in the way of love.

Follow His love.
